So,1st edn,9th impression. This impression contains the printed errors which only occur in very early printings of this book: Line 1,pp8 has highchair instead of high chair and the error of repetition of 1 Wand being listed twice on page 53 - only a very few UK later impressions had this error, these were subsequently corrected in the later impressions.Errors also present in the first print run of the first edition, first printing.Winner of the 1997 Smarties Gold Award printed along foot of front panel of dw/dj.Text copyrighted to Joanne Rowling, in later printings it was changed to read JK Rowling.Pictorial representation of a young Dumbledore to head of spine/ backstrip and rear cover of book and dustjacket (later changed to an older Dumbledore with a grey beard.] NFINE/FINE. No owner inscrptn, and dw/dj not price-clipped - lack of publisher's printed price - absence of which usually indicates an export edition, and generally believed to precede UK trade issue/distribution. Bright, crisp, clean, vibrant and with NO discernible sunning/fading,colour pictorial artwork by Thomas Taylor, illustrated spine/backstrip and dw/dj panels - design repeated to matt,non-glazed boards; with negligible shelf-wear and creasing to edges and corners - no nicks or tears present.Head+foot of spine/ backstrip minisculely bumped with reciprocal creasing to both the boards and the dw/dj.Top+fore-edges slightly aged/ tanned - as usual/normal; contents bright, tight, clean,no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners and would be near pristine apart from a fault to the last page. The last page has an accidental, oblique crease to 3/4s of body of the page, with a horizontal tear, approx 2.5" from top edge, and 2.5" long, towards the centre of the page and at the end of the oblique crease. Some light creasing in situ around the tear, but there is NO loss and text unaffected.Sharp-cornered bds, apart from the rear, lower corner which is minimally bumped, with immaculate plain white eps - no off-set foxing from dw/djs' inner flaps.UK,slim 8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn, 9th impression,8-223pp [paginated] includes 17 chapters; plus [unpaginated] b/w school crest+motto vignetted half-title+title pages and dedication. Described hard, but fairly and honestly,it really is not as bad as it reads! All in all,a really nice, acceptable example of the highly sought after 1st edn, first title in the 7-book Hogwarts saga.
